The
Lalbagh of Bangalore is known as 'King of Gardens'. The Silk Saree
showroom 'Saree House' near Lalbagh west gate is equally famous
as Lalbagh.
Late Prime
Minister Smt. IndiraGandhi too purchased silk sarees from this esteemed
showroom. Saree House is not one or two years' showroom. It had
started at R.V.Road of V.V.Purm in 1960. The small showroom started
by Smt. Lalitamma and Sri Subrmanya Iyar has now become 2000 sq.
foot big saree world.
Actually
Smt. Lalitamma and Sri Subramanya Iyar couple started saree business
with only one saree in a small box. Over a period of time the box
became suitcase, suitcase became small shop. The small shop became
2000 sq. foot big showroom. The existing showroom started in 1975.
Than Chief Minister D. Devaraja Urs inaugurated this shoowroom.
Since 5 decades
Saree House is maintaining the quality and trust. Now the showroom
is having permanent customer base.
The
two storeyed showroom is having separate sections for silk sarees,
designer sarees and Dothi and shlyas. The main floor is meant for
sarees. In this floor customers can find attractive, colourful and
pure Jari silk sarees like Kanchivaram, Arani, Banaras, Valkalam,
Molakalmur. Besides, embroidery and work sarees, Kolkatta fashion
srees, designer sarees, chiffon, crape sarees and 9 and 10 yard
traditional sarees, blouse materials are also available.
The
sarees range from Rs. 150 to 30 thousand are glittering in this
showroom. The showroom is having many specialties. All the staff
of this showroom are ladies. Mr. Ramesh owner of this showroom says
'Ladies can
better understand the needs of women so we have appointed only lady
staff'. The special sarees for goddesses is another specialty. The
showroom will take marriage orders and loom the sarees to the needs
of their customers. The Saree house will provide uniforms to lady
staff of Educational institutions and Banks.
Information:
In
this showroom customers can have an idea about the manufacturing
of silk sarees. Here the colour pictures are painted on the wall
which will describe the entire cycle of silk manufacturing and weaving.
The work silk
sarees are the main attractions of this showroom, which had attracted
noted film stars and VVIPs.
